Are you looking for a placement but lack in work experience? Don’t worry here at DMU you can find something that will give you those transferable skills that employers are looking for.

DSU Societies:

Not only do societies offer a unique platform to make friends, learn new things and have fun, being part of a society means you could win awards, attend conferences, ceremonies and gain qualifications.  All the experience you will gain is a great addition to boost your CV.


Sport at DSU:

Playing sport and keeping fit is really important to us at DSU. We believe playing in sport is key, especially whilst at University. It’s a fantastic way to keep fit, meet new people and unleash your talents. You could even try something new.


DSU Volunteering:

DSU volunteers have access to hundreds of unique and exciting volunteering opportunities. As well as giving you the chance to volunteer within your Students’ Union and on campus we have links with over 300 local organisations who all look for student volunteers to help them.


DMU Square Mile:

Working on the innovative projects that DMU Square Mile offers our students a unique opportunity to put the knowledge they learn on their degree course into practice, and strengthen their CV while honing the skills employers look for.


Student Ambassadors:

Student Ambassadors help to promote DMU by talking to prospective students, parents, teachers and careers advisers to share their experiences about the university. It’s a very rewarding role and you even get paid!



The Frontrunners scheme offers you the opportunity to apply for paid internships working on real tasks, with current DMU employees.

Internships vary from administration roles and social media work to supporting the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and project work within faculties and DMU’s professional services departments, as well as some lab-based opportunities.


#DMU Global

#DMUglobal is an international experience programme for De Montfort University students, which aims to enrich studies, broaden cultural horizons and to develop key skills valued by employers.
